Simple but effective life saving solution in Liberia
January 2014

Women from outlying areas in Bong County Liberia stay in a waiting room near to the hospital before their babies come. Often they are away from their families for several months with no way of sending news about the arrival of their babies. MCAI is providing a telephone so that these women can keep in touch with their communities. At the onset of labour, the women must cross an area of thick vegetation, often at night, in order to reach the labour ward. Snake bite is a real risk and expensive anti-venom is in very short supply. MCAI is providing torches and wellington boots – a low tech but effective solution
