"When I decided to do a half marathon there was no question as to why I wanted to do it. Since my friend tragically passed away in 2010 following the birth of her 10 week premature twins I knew I wanted to do something that might make a difference and change the plight of other mothers.
I did quite a bit of research and I came across a couple, but as MCAI focused on women in less developed countries then here in Britain, I knew it was a better option.
"We decided to support MCAI as we wanted to raise funds for a maternal healthcare charity, having experienced the benefits of excellent maternal care in this country, which lead to a sad realisation that such healthcare is not available universally" You can still donate by visiting Asim's justgiving page to sponsor this family of cycling enthusiasts!
Jess Elmer says: "Although it is no 'Eddie Izzard' it was certainly a challenge for me. One of the things that kept me going was the sponsorship money which is going to such a good cause!"
