UK healthcare charity MCAI sends life-saving equipment to Africa

International healthcare charity MCAI is sending out a forty foot container containg vital medical equipment for 5 different health centres in The Gambia.

The container contains a mixture of new, second hand and donated equipment worth just under £70,000. Such items range from beds to pulse oximeters.  These items will save and improve the lives of several hundred seriously ill babies, children and their mothers.

Programme Director Meggie Szczesny said "it is so important we get this shipment out, otherwise people will die, it's as simple as that".

The shipment will arrival in The Gambia at the end of April.
