A group of Midlands doctors are taking time off from their NHS duties to provide medical aid in the flooded villages of Pakistan, and as one of the countries where we are active MCAI is supporting them.
Organised by the MDAUK (the Midlands Doctors Association UK), the volunteer doctors are working across Charsadda an area new Peshawar in Northern Pakistan. The villages are too remote and the scale of the national disaster too large, so that many villages will not have received much attention from the Pakistani Government or NGOs.
Dr Iftikhar, Derby based consultant and Chair of MDAUK said “ I was here in 2005 and saw the devastation that followed the earthquake. Tragically and unbelievably, things this year are much worse"
The MDA are collecting funds, clothes and food. Clothes are being converted to cash at the Pakistan centre (Harrington Street Derby). If you have food donations please collect all your local donations and then email flood@mdauk.co.uk
